The Constitutional Conservative: House Democrats Try to End-Run the 1st Amendment To Close Down FOX and Other Conservative News Outlets

House Democrats Wrote Cable TV Transmitters Asking Why FOX, NewsMax, and Other Conservative Outlets Are Being Transmitted.

Knowing that government may not abridge free speech, House Democrats wrote “inquiry” letters to CEOs of television distribution companies asking why conservative cable outlets continued to be carried through these company’s transmission lines?  

Analysis:

The 1st Amendment protects each of us from government abridging free speech. However, we saw that private companies such as Facebook and Twitter may bridge our speech and doing so is legal so long as it’s a private company. These Democrats are sending formal congressional inquiries to these CEOs asking why “conservative” news outlets are still being transmitted through those company’s transmission lines, specifically citing FOX, NewsMax, and others. 

First Amendment to the Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Democrats in congress are seeking private companies who may prohibit speech to do so for them – Democrats in congress know it’s illegal for them to pass these laws. 

Conclusion:

Democrats are brazenly bullying private companies into delisting conservative news, just as the Democrats got Silicon Valley tech companies to do in the last few months – see Facebook, Twitter, Amazon and others delisting Trump, The New York Post for honestly reporting on Hunter Biden, and even shutting down Parler entirely. Democrats are seeking to shut down conservative media completely, in violation of the 1st Amendment, through “legislating by letterhead” as they send private companies “inquiries” hoping those companies are intimidated into doing what is illegal for congress to do: suppress free speech.
